Laser Resurfacing: An Anti-Aging Tool That Works
The natural aging process, along with exposure to sun and pollution, destroys collagen – the main protein of connective tissue that keeps skin plump and line-free. Laser resurfacing uses small rays of energy light to bore minuscule holes in the skin, which accelerates the body’s natural collagen production. Combining the effectiveness of traditional carbon dioxide lasers with a new application technique, fractional laser skin resurfacing delivers powerful results without the traditionally harsh side effects. And it doesn’t damage the top layer of skin, allowing the technique to offer maximum results with minimal recovery time. Board-certified dermatologist Alexander Gross, M.D. at the Georgia Dermatology Center in Cumming, GA, is proud to offer this state-of-the-art technology to his patients.
MicroLaserPeel™
The Sciton Erbium Laser provides the latest in skin rejuvenation. This procedure is most often used for light skin resurfacing to treat fine lines and sun damage. By using a computerized scanner, more uniform results are achieved. Short pulses of laser energy gently ablate the outer layers of the skin at precise depths to eliminate unwanted pigmentation and fine lines. The procedure is performed in Dr. Alexander Gross’ office in Cumming, GA and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
The MicroLaserPeel™ works by focusing a laser beam over the treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.
Conditions that can be improved with MicroLaserPeel:
- Mild wrinkles
- Scars
- Keratosis
- Sun damage (e.g., freckles)
- Pigment irregularities
ProFractional™
Achieve total skin rejuvenation utilizing the latest and best technology has to offer with Sciton ProFractional treatment with minimal downtime. Unlike full field resurfacing which removes the entire surface area of a treatment site, ProFractional ablates narrow-diameter channels into the skin, covering a fraction of the total treatment area. This action initiates the body’s wound healing response which stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin, while leaving the surrounding tissue intact for rapid healing. The benefits of ProFractional include increased patient comfort, shorter healing times, and tunable results that can range from subtle to dramatic.
ProFractional utilizes an erbium: YAG laser, which was chosen due to its high ablation efficiency. Erbium has a much higher absorption in the target chromophore water than CO2 which gives erbium the ability to vaporize tissue with very little thermal conduction resulting in minimal procedure discomfort.
ProFractional treatments dramatically improve the overall appearance of your skin including tone, texture, acne scars, and wrinkles. Dr. Gross can select treatment depth and density to provide uniform color, texture and tone to the face and can do so without the scabs, crusting, and the associated long downtime of heavy ablation. Low intensity treatments may require 3 treatments for optimal results with minimal downtime while high intensity treatments may require only 1 treatment but can result in some downtime. ProFractional works very well as a stand-alone procedure or in combination with other treatments like the Micro Laser Peel. Benefits are long lasting.
