Physicians Volunteer June 1st at Peachtree Road Farmers Market
Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics – Georgia’s top-rated dermatology practice – offered free skin cancer screenings in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Screenings take place annually at Peachtree Road Farmers Market (The Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road N.W., Atlanta).
“Detecting skin cancer at its early stages through screenings is crucial as it provides an opportunity for prompt treatment when it’s most effective,” said Dr. Jodi Ganz of Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics. “Participating in an event like this allows us to connect with our community in new and meaningful ways. It also allows us to better understand the health needs of our community.”
These exams are conducted outdoors in the open air, allowing physicians to screen any easily visible parts of a patient. Doctors focus on areas where skin cancer is likely to form, typically around the neck, arms, hands, and face. Each patient will receive a write-up of their examination. If any serious issues are detected, doctors will provide additional personalized recommendations and referrals. This event provides a convenient opportunity for vendors and patrons to receive skin exams by a board-certified dermatologist for free without proof of insurance.
Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics has collaborated with Peachtree Road Farmers Market for several years for annual skin cancer examinations. This year marks the 17th year that Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics has coordinated this free screening event. In addition to Dr. Ganz, Drs. Humza Ilyas, Erica Tarabadkar, Physician Assistants Wayne Emineth, Carrie Howell, Alex Palgon, and Medical Assistant Jennifer Sadowsky of Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics, participated in this year’s screenings.
The event is organized by Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics in partnership with the Atlanta Association for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. It is sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology as part of their Spot Me initiative, which aims to provide free skin cancer screenings and increase education and awareness around skin cancer prevention.
