At the turn of the calendar, health and wellness goals are among the most common resolutions we set each new year. While these are often built on fundamentals such as exercising more or eating well, it’s possible — and worthwhile — to extend your focus to a broader sense of self-care in the year to come with the following skincare resolutions.
Go for a Skin Cancer Screening
There’s never a bad time of year to go for a skin cancer screening, so make it your priority to schedule yours early. Skin cancer may be the most common form of cancer in the U.S. (more than five million cases are diagnosed each year), but it’s most often treatable.
During a skin cancer screening, one of our dermatologists will perform a thorough, head-to-toe skin exam, including the scrutiny of certain areas with a magnifying glass or special light to assess any skin abnormalities, including moles. The process typically takes 10 to 15 minutes. If our providers notice any areas of concern, we may perform a biopsy, during which a small sample of your skin will be numbed then gently removed to make a diagnosis. Depending on your biopsy results, further surgery may be scheduled afterward to ensure that all abnormal cells have been removed.
Schedule a Skincare Consultation
A regular skincare routine can keep your body’s largest organ healthy and looking its best. Boosting your skin health is an important self-care activity that can even benefit your mental wellness. While you may already have an at-home skincare regimen, chances are it could be refined, since each person has different skin qualities that require different upkeep over time. Our dermatologists are well-versed in finding the best solutions to address these differences.
You may have a specific concern you’d like to address, such as rosacea, acne, or dryness. Or, perhaps you’re just looking for expertise about which products and care routine will best suit your skin type. No matter your circumstances, we can help you take the guesswork out of proper skincare with a simple in-office consultation.
During your appointment, we’ll assess your skin and discuss any concerns or questions you have. From there, our providers will recommend a tailored skincare regimen to enhance your skin’s tone, texture, and appearance.
Address Cosmetic Concerns
If there’s something that’s been bothering you when you look in the mirror, resolve to address it this year. Cosmetic procedures have been shown to improve self-esteem and quality of life, so there’s no reason not to add a cosmetic consultation to your skincare resolutions.
In addition to our comprehensive general dermatology services, our providers offer a range of cosmetic services that leverage state-of-the-art technology to deliver the best possible results. From acne scars to spider veins, or signs of aging and sun spots, our board-certified dermatologists are well equipped to tackle your trouble spots and leave you feeling better about yourself through the New Year and beyond.
During your consultation, one of our providers will ask questions about your concerns and hopes, and then perform a visual exam and present the best treatment options based on your skin’s specific needs and your goals.
