On Sunday, September 12, 2021, Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics’ Dr. Jodi Ganz appeared as a guest on “The Weekly Check-Up” on News/Talk WSB Radio.
Dr. Ganz and host, Dr. Bruce Feinberg, discussed a number of skincare topics including acne, skin cancers, the value of an annual skin exam, and a few specific skin diseases. The two also took questions from callers regarding personal skin issues and recommendations.
Dr. Ganz is a board-certified dermatologist, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and managing partner of Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics. She practices general dermatology and some aesthetic services. Dr. Ganz is a graduate of Cornell University, and received her medical degree from the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine. She currently sees patients at our Buckhead office.
In her interview, Dr. Ganz shared that her interest in dermatology was sparked through its specific blend of disciplines and patient care. “Dermatology was the best of all worlds to me. It was a little medicine, it was a little surgery, a little cosmetic,” said Dr. Ganz. While she does treat patients of any age and gender, Dr. Ganz also has a passion for women’s health, and is one of the few dermatologists that offers concentration in female genital dermatology.
During the show, Dr. Ganz and Dr. Feinberg covered the key role the skin plays in overall wellness. Care for the skin can often go overlooked due to our everyday interaction with it, but as the two discussed, it is an organ that deserves attention at every stage of life. As mentioned, this ongoing care is part of what drew Dr. Ganz to the field. “I like my patients. I like treating whole families. I always tell people that I think a dermatologist is one of the few people who, still to this day, treats from the infant to the aged. We see all spectrums of the life cycle which is fascinating to me.”
From there, Dr. Ganz and Dr. Feinberg transitioned to discussing the variety of skin cancers, the rising number of melanoma cases, and how skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the US. Dr. Ganz shared some practical knowledge including the advice to schedule annual skin exams, be mindful of the amount of sun we expose ourselves to, and use thorough sun protection wich includes the frequent application of sunscreen and selection of clothing that offers coverage.
